The Short Story
Looking back, I guess I’ve always been a teacher of sorts I just never realised it. After a varied early career, I finally worked out the missing element whilst teaching English to children in Hong Kong. During my stay there I decided to retrain and become a real, proper teacher. So, I came back home and did just that.
After gaining my qualifications from Canterbury Christ Church University I was off on my new teaching career… and I loved it. Working with children, seeing their progress and being part of their lives made the long hours and the stress worth it. I taught every year group, helped children through SATs and entrance exams, became Art and DT lead and a mentor teacher. However, like many educators, I felt the strain of the post-Covid education crisis and grew disillusioned with the system, but my love for teaching remained. So, after some toing and froing Little Catch Up Club was born, my idea of what education can look like.
I want to put the fun back into learning, cast out worksheets and get hands on. All, children love to learn, it’s natural to them, school just sometimes takes the wonder out of it. I'm on a mission to reignite a love of learning, boost confidence and ease school related stress.
